HARE SREENIVASA! ****************
HARI SARVOTHAMA!! VAYOO JEVOTHAMA!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ MOOLA RAMO VIJAYATHE!! GURURAJO VIJAYATHE!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ OM SRI RAGHAVENDRAYA NAMAHA! **************************** Dear Devotees,
Many of us might have heard of Lakshmi Sahasra Nama, but I think only few of us are aware of what are her forms that are worshiped during Navaratri!. If you are also one among them and wishing to know that, then this article helps you!
There are several festivals in India which we celebrate for 9 days. These Navaratris are generally named after the main deity who is being worshipped. For example, the nine days prior to the incarnation of Lord Sri Ramachandra are called Rama Navaratri; initial 9 days of Goddess Ganga's dissention from heaven are called Ganga Navaratri; it is called Durga Navaratri if Goddess Durga is worshipped; Acharya Madhwa disappeared from our naked eyes on Magha-Shudha Navami hence the first 9 days in Magha Shudha (Bright half in the lunar month of Magha) are popular as Madhwa Navaratri. If these celebration are extended a day with a carnival, then that day will be known as Dasha-hara. Amongst all the above Navaratris (Dashahara) Durga Navaratri has earned a special place. It is celebrated in Ashvayuja Masa Shukla Paksha. According to Indian Lunar almanac it has to be celebrated in the first nine days of Sharad Rutu (Indian Autumn season). So it is also called Sharad-Navaratri. It will be celebrated with a great pomp in all parts of India, Bangladesh, Nepal and even in Pakistan.
